Saraki Advises NLNG To Reduce Gas Flaring
Senate President Bukola Saraki has urged the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) to reduce gas flaring to endear itself to the people. He also vowed the determination of the Eighth Senate and indeed the National Assembly to enact business-friendly laws.
Saraki stated this when the outgoing Managing Director of NLNG, Mr. Babs Omotowa, came to introduce his successor, Tony Attah, who is billed to assume duties on September 1, to him.
“There is need to do more. You have to work harder so you can further reduce the current status of gas flaring in Nigeria”, he stated.
He, therefore, advised the management of the NLNG to ensure there was improvement in the use of domestic gas for cooking to drastically reduce the use of firewood and consequently help to preserve the environment.
The managing director of NLNG thanked the Senate President for providing a conducive atmosphere for the NLNG during his tenure and urged him to extend the same relationship to his successor, Attah.
Saraki has also called for improved bilateral relationship between Nigeria and the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially in areas like education and elimination of terrorism.
He stated this when the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif, led a delegation on a visit to him in his office.
According to the him: “There should be bilateral co-operation between Nigeria and the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially in areas where there are common challenges like in tackling terrorism, science and education as well as in socio-cultural co-operation.”
